Tara Saunders was shocked when her fisherman husband brought home an artillery shell on Saturday. The RCMP is holding the shell at the airstrip on Bell Island. Shipwreck Preservation Society President, Neil Burgess, says the shell also appears to be live.
Bell Island Military Shell Secured; Canadian Armed Forces Contacted for Next Steps
The Canadian Armed Forces have been contacted to assist with next steps after a live shell was retrieved from the water near Bell Island by a local lobster fisherman. The shell was retrieved by the RNC Explosives Unit on the weekend and taken to the airstrip on Bell Island where it is being held for members of the military. The RNC sent two members to Bell Island and determined that the object was an intact, but severely corroded military shell.…
