Beastie Boys' Mike D Announces Debut Solo Album 'Thank You'
The Beastie Boys legend says the album grew from home-studio sessions with collaborators and follows the new single "True Colors."
- Beastie Boys alum Mike D announced his debut solo album, 'Thank You,' arriving on Aug. 28. The project marks his first full-length release as a solo artist.
- Marking the first full-length release from a Beastie Boys member since 2011's 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 2,' the album follows Mike D's hiatus after the 2012 passing of Adam MCA Yauch.
- Recorded at his home studio, the album features a 'dozen servings of sonically inventive post-electronic grooves,' according to Newsweek. Collaborators include his sons Davis and Skyler, alongside producers Carter Lang and Jared Solomon.
- Mike D released a visualizer for new single 'True Colors,' now streaming. He hopes the album is 'not overly serious,' saying he's releasing music into a 'very strange and dark' world.
- Performance dates include Berlin, Germany, on Aug. 13 and Porto, Portugal, on Aug. 14. He concludes the schedule at Portola Music Festival in San Francisco, USA, on Sept. 26.
