Ten British Columbians in hospital with the measles, as disease spreads in north
BRITISH COLUMBIA, JUL 11 – More than two-thirds of the 102 measles cases in B.C. in 2025 are in Northern Health, with unimmunized individuals most affected, health officials said.
Ten people are hospitalized with measles in British Columbia, with one active, contagious case reported as of July 8.
There have been 102 confirmed measles cases this year, mostly among people who were not fully immunized, according to British Columbia's health ministry.
Dr. Martin Lavoie noted the disease has spread among unimmunized communities, particularly in northern B.C.
Health Minister Josie Osborne emphasized that immunization is the best protection against measles for B.C. residents.
