Victoria Candidate Kicked From BC Conservatives After Resurfaced Social Media Posts
Lorne Doerkson said the remarks could not be tolerated after the NDP cited posts attacking the Pakistani community and praising white supremacist figures.
On Thursday, The Conservative Party fired Victoria-Beacon Hill candidate Joachim Agou after resurfaced social media posts were exposed by the opposition; interim leader Lorne Doerkson announced Agou is no longer a candidate.
Screenshots shared by NDP Candidate Amna Shah on Thursday exposed Agou's social media activity, with Shah dubbing the content 'horrific racism' for attacking the Pakistani community.
Content featured sympathy for Donald Trump and Elon Musk, while Agou supported a 2025 Switzerland protest incident, stating the driver 'should have reversed' too.
Doerkson stated the remarks 'cannot be tolerated' and confirmed that even if Agou is elected in Victoria-Beacon Hill, he will not be permitted to serve in the caucus.
It remains unclear if Agou, an engineer and small-business owner who immigrated to Canada in 2011, intends to continue his campaign as an independent; Victoria News has reached out to confirm his plans.
