Leading UK Charity in Liquidation with £430,000 Owed and Jobs Lost
The charity said financial pressures made it no longer sustainable, and its 30 employees will lose their jobs as creditors are owed £433,557.
On Friday, May 8, Bicester-based charity Auditory Verbal UK entered liquidation with £433,557 in debt, resulting in 30 job losses across the organization.
Operating in an "increasingly challenging and turbulent environment," AVUK officials said financial pressures intensified despite strong progress, though the charity had previously received support from BBC presenter Sara Cox and former Banbury MP Victoria Prentis.
CEO Craig Crowley MBE of Action Deafness called the closure a "real tragedy," warning it could mean reduced specialist support for Deaf children and encouraging affected families to contact his organization for guidance.
Creditors are due to receive formal notification from proposed liquidators advising the Board, while AVUK is working to ensure alternate provisions are arranged for children previously supported through its therapy programs.
Calls for sustained government investment for Deaf children have "not been met," leaving limited public service access, though the organization hopes past progress will continue shaping a future where Deaf children thrive.
