Bausch + Lomb and Bausch Health Announce Appointment of Thomas J. Appio as Interim Bausch + Lomb CEO, Expect to Raise Full-Year 2026 Guidance
The companies said preliminary third-quarter results point to higher full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance as Appio takes over from Brent Saunders.
On Monday, Bausch + Lomb Board of Directors Chairman Thomas J. Appio was appointed interim CEO, replacing Brent Saunders following a mutual agreement with the board.
Preliminary third-quarter results support an expected increase in 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance for Bausch + Lomb and Bausch Health Companies Inc., based on strong business performance.
U.S.-Listed Bausch + Lomb shares fell more than 7% during Monday's trading, while Citi analysts said the change "seems sudden" but Appio's experience positions him well for transition.
Appio will continue serving as Bausch Health CEO while assuming interim leadership of Bausch + Lomb, having previously headed the company's international business from 2016 to 2022.
The companies remain in a blackout period and will provide additional financial details when reporting third-quarter results on October 28, with full guidance updates expected then.
