Bath Iron Works christens latest destroyer carrying the name of Navy hero

The 9,200-ton destroyer honors a Medal of Honor recipient and marks Bath Iron Works’ 43rd Arleigh Burke-class ship built for the Navy.

Shipbuilders, lawmakers, Navy officials and members of the Charette family gathered at BIW on Saturday to celebrate the completion of the William Charette, a destroyer that will be launched next week.
