Batesville man sentenced to 45 years in fatal shooting of 13-year-old

BATESVILLE — A Batesville man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison in connection with the April 2025 shooting death of a 13-year-old child, officials said. Jabari Deshun Byrd entered the guilty plea Tuesday, June 25, after a jury was selected for his murder trial.
