Nowata County is short on their general fund budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. County Clerk Kay Spurgeon said elected officials have made cuts in their budget. The board approved a new spreadsheet with the new cuts made by the elected officials to be sent for further review. The commissioners approved the first draft of their general fund budget on May 26.
