Banco de Portugal announces new forecasts that are substantially more optimistic in relation to economic growth this year, in line with the government's 2.3% forecast in OE2026.
Central Bank estimates that the Portuguese Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to accelerate by 2026.
These projections highlight those reported by the institution in June for 2026 (0.5 percentage points) and 2027 (0.2 p.p.), and are also more optimistic than the government.
Banco de Portugal expects the Portuguese economy to grow by 2.3% in 2026, driven by the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), budgetary measures and a more positive export performance.
The central bank expects inflation to increase to 3.1% in 2026 and decrease in the following years to close to price stability (2.4% in 2027 and 2.0% in 2028)
