Hodge Hits 140 as West Indies Build Lead over Bangladesh
Hodge’s career-best innings and Bangladesh’s dropped chances helped West Indies build a commanding lead before bad light stopped play.
On Sunday, West Indies batter Kavem Hodge struck an unbeaten 140 to extend the visitors' lead to 315 on the fourth day of the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet, reaching 345-3 before bad light halted play.
Bangladesh compiled 386 in their first innings, establishing a 30-run lead, thanks to an epic 242 not out from batter Towhid Hridoy that set the benchmark for West Indies to chase.
Opener Brandon King made 61, while debutant Kevin Wickham scored 78 for his second half-century of the match, providing crucial support as Hodge dominated the fourth-day batting.
Bad light halted play with West Indies at 345-3, leaving Amir Jangoo unbeaten on 20 alongside Hodge, who said the team will 'play it by ear' before the final day.
Hridoy remains confident in a Bangladesh chase on the final day, stating, '350 is chaseable, in my opinion,' as pitch conditions favor batting and the contest heads toward a decisive conclusion.
