Bagpipes and kilts flood ballpark as Scotland fans turn a Marlins game into a party
About 8,000 members of the Tartan Army filled the concourses and marched a mile to loanDepot Park before Scotland's World Cup match.
On Monday night, thousands of Scotland fans marched one mile from a Miami bar to loanDepot Park, filling the stadium with bagpipes and chants ahead of their squad's World Cup match against Brazil.
This event marks the latest stop on the Tartan Army's Major League Baseball takeover tour, which previously filled the streets of Boston and New York as supporters celebrated their team's first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
Attendance surged to 20,008, including about 8,000 members of the Tartan Army, nearly tripling the Marlins' regular-season average of 12,604 fans per game and transforming the typically quiet ballpark.
Although the Marlins lost 4-3 to the Texas Rangers, fans embraced the experience, singing as if celebrating a victory, with manager Clayton McCullough remarking, "Lively out there tonight."
Local fan Victor Munoz hopes the international attention boosts the Marlins' visibility as visitors prepare for Wednesday's World Cup match against Brazil, potentially transforming the team's profile.
