- On Wednesday, police in Chakwal, Pakistan, fatally shot nine-year-old Hania Ahmed after officers mistook her family's rental car for that of armed robbers while the Australian girl was visiting relatives in Punjab province.
- Prior to the shooting, the family was confronted by two armed robbers who stole about $7500 worth of jewellery, prompting father Adeel Ahmed to attempt driving his family to safety.
- Police from the Crime Control Department engaged the robbers, then fired on the family's vehicle; a police official later admitted, "As the cops saw the vehicle being driven away immediately, they took it as belonging to the robbers and opened indiscriminate fire."
- Hania was pronounced dead at District Headquarters Hospital, while brother Aafan Ahmed and father underwent surgery for injuries; mother Sidra Khan remained unharmed and a CCD official was taken into custody.
- The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance as Pakistani Association general secretary Asim Chaudhry told Nine News, "This news is very shocking, especially the death of the nine-year-old.
