He was born on July 28, 1982, in Paducah, Kentucky, to his parents, Kenneth Wade and Carol Lee (Buckner) Johnson. Austin was raised in Lyon County until his family moved to Calvert City when he was in kindergarten. He graduated from Marshall County High School in 2000, where he was a member of the golf team.
