German automotive giant Volkswagen has announced it will unilaterally terminate numerous internal collective bargaining agreements with the IG Metall union as of December 31, as part of a cost-cutting and restructuring process. The decision is expected to affect approximately 100,000 employees at its main factories in Germany.
