The August 20th series of state events celebrating the founding of the Hungarian state began in Budapest with the traditional flag raising ceremony in Kossuth Square, the first since the Tisza Party took over the government from Fidesz, which had been in power for 16 years.
The President of the Republic spoke approvingly of our contemporary national greats, and in the company of the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House, he presented this year's state awards. Among others, György Cserhalmi and the Rural Procurator also received awards.
State awards were presented on August 20, and the inauguration took place in an unusual manner.
György Cserhalmi also received the Grand Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit from the new President of the Republic, András Baka.
