Athlete dies after competing in Swansea Ironman

MENAI STRAIT, WALES, JUL 15 – Emergency services rescued a man in difficulty in the Menai Strait after a major search; his death is not considered suspicious, police said.

  • At 11.30am, the missing man was recovered from the Menai Strait and he was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment.
  • He died in hospital on Wednesday, and North Wales Police spokesperson said the coroner has been informed.
  • In a statement, North Wales Police said the death is not suspicious, and his family are being supported at this time.
