At what time do Americans hit their energy wall?
A Talker Research survey for Breakstone’s found 71% of adults skip or delay meals on busy days and 82% say they are on autopilot.
A survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by Talker Research between July 9 and July 13, 2026, revealed that energy typically fades by 2:48 p.m. daily, though one in five report waning energy before noon.
Driven by pressure to do "the most," 70% of respondents feel forced to overextend themselves daily, while 82% report operating their lives on "autopilot" to keep up with daily demands.
As packed schedules take priority, 71% of Americans skip or delay meals, while 72% admit they occasionally realize by day's end they have barely consumed any protein.
Almost half of respondents admit to feeling disconnected during meaningful moments, as busy schedules lead 27% to reduce time with loved ones and 26% to sacrifice social time.
Amanda Vaal, Director of Brand Marketing at Breakstone's, recommends prioritizing protein to manage busy days, as only 29% of respondents find caffeine "very effective" compared to 38% for protein.
