At least eight homes in the US town of Buxton have been swept away by waves brought by hurricanes Imelda and Humberto in recent days. Some of them were caught on video as they fell. The homes stood alone on wooden stilts right on the beach of Hatteras Island. These events have become increasingly common in recent years, partly due to soil erosion.
