Aston Villa Seal Loan Swoop for Defender
The 28-year-old right-back agreed personal terms and completed a medical, and Villa will add him to the squad for Sunday’s opener.
Aston Villa have signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka on a season-long loan from West Ham with a conditional obligation to buy. The 28-year-old right-back will join the squad for Sunday's Premier League opener at Brighton.
A Crystal Palace academy product, Wan-Bissaka previously played for Manchester United and the Hammers, making 65 appearances for the latter before making his intention to leave clear at the end of the season.
Villa sought fresh competition for Matty Cash this summer, allowing Andres Garcia to join Getafe on loan and Kosta Nedeljkovic to depart for Rangers in a move expected to reach £4 million.
Elsewhere, Villa is sourcing a replacement for Ezri Konsa, who joined Arsenal in an initial £51 million deal, while an £18 million bid for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis was rejected earlier this week.
While Wan-Bissaka joins the squad, Villa will travel to Brighton without midfielders Joao Gomes and Johan Manzambi due to injury, and teenage striker Brian Madjo remains sidelined for the opening weeks.
