Asian Games squash: India men and women finish with team bronze
India’s men and women both lost semifinal ties 2-1, with the men’s deciding match going to a fifth game and the women falling to Hong Kong, China.
On Thursday, the Indian men's squash team lost 2-1 to Malaysia in the Asian Games 2026 semifinal at Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, settling for bronze and ending their title defense.
Top seed Abhay Singh fell 0-3 to Eain Yow Ng in a rematch of the individual singles final, giving Malaysia an early 1-0 lead in the semifinal.
Veer Chotrani responded with a composed display, defeating Jeeva Sanjay 3-0 to level the tie 1-1 and keep India's hopes alive.
Deciding the tie, Velavan Senthilkumar fell 1-3 to Ameeshenraj Chandaran, sealing the 2-1 victory for Malaysia and securing their spot in the final against Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, the Indian women's team also secured bronze after losing to Hong Kong, China in their semifinal, completing a difficult day for Indian squash.
