The hourly labour cost has risen by 3.1% in the euro area and by 3.2% in the European Union in the second quarter of 2026, compared to the same period last year. Romania has, however, recorded the most modest increase in the EU, by only 1.8%, according to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday. The low labour cost advance in our country comes in the context of a 3% decrease in the non-business sector, the strongest decrease in the EU block.
