Arteta Admits Final Defeat Is Still Driving Him
Arteta said Arsenal’s penalty shootout loss to PSG still drives the squad as they face a Bayern side missing key players.
- On Wednesday, Premier League champions Arsenal travel to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern Munich, marking their sternest test since May's shootout loss to Paris Saint-Germain in last season's Champions League final.
- Mikel Arteta admitted on Tuesday he still struggles to move past the final defeat, stating, "I tried for many weeks during the summer, but when I see the ball, the scenes, I hear the music, I want it so badly."
- Despite winning 10 of their 11 matches this season, Arsenal have faced criticism regarding tactical style; Arteta dismissed claims his team is "boring," saying, "We enjoy going out there every single day to win football matches."
- Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany may miss the match due to illness, with assistant Aaron Danks standing by to deputise; doubt also surrounds captain Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala.
- Arteta backed his defence to handle striker Harry Kane, a Ballon d'Or favourite entering the fixture in top form, stating, "You want to face the best players in these kind of games.
