- As emeritus astronauts, the pair will continue supporting the moon exploration program, helping prepare for future Artemis III and Artemis IV missions, as NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman expressed gratitude for their contributions.
- Christina Koch remains the only active member of the Artemis II crew following this transition, as Jeremy Hansen, the Canadian Space Agency astronaut who flew the mission, retired from the agency in July.
