Arkansas TV Foundation Reaches PBS Funding Goal for 2027
The foundation also secured more than $1.5 million in commitments for each of the next two fiscal years, officials said.
On Wednesday, the Arkansas TV Foundation announced it secured $2,151,449, meeting its financial goal for PBS dues for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026.
The Arkansas Educational Television Commission voted last year to disaffiliate after losing $2.5 million in annual federal funding, following President Donald Trump's 2025 budget bill canceling $1.1 billion in CPB funding.
Statewide donors and foundations fueled the effort, with Foundation CEO Marge Betley crediting the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's final gift and more than 1,500 new donors joining the base.
The Arkansas TV Commission meets Thursday at 10 a.m. to discuss PBS affiliation, following its March vote to delay disaffiliation pending fundraising efforts.
Beyond FY27, the foundation secured commitments of more than $1.5 million each for FY28 and FY29, with officials confident these pledges will cover future PBS dues payments.
