Summary by NW Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Horatio, circa 1910: The Sevier County town was served by the Bank of Horatio at these teller windows. The town -- home to around 1,000 people today -- was named for a hero from Roman history, Horatius Cocles, who defended Rome in a battle at a key bridge in 508 B.C. The manager of the Texarkana and Fort Smith Railroad was reminded of this in the design of a railroad bridge.
