TalkTalk Saved From Administration by BT in Major Deal Affecting 2.5m Customers
Ares is seeking a multimillion-pound payment as BT weighs a pre-pack rescue that could leave TalkTalk in administration.
On Sunday, BT continued urgent negotiations to acquire TalkTalk as Ares Management demanded a multimillion-pound upfront payment to approve the deal or face a costly legal fight.

BT rejected a proposal from Epiris that would have required waiving at least £300m in debt owed by TalkTalk, emerging instead as the likeliest buyer to protect the company's more than 1.5 million retail customers.
PXC chairman Tom O'Hagan warned this weekend that a BT takeover would "create near-total dominance" of the sector, reversing years of efforts to stimulate competition in Britain's retail telecommunications market.
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy and Ofcom are monitoring developments as the fate of TalkTalk's 900-strong workforce remains unclear under potential BT ownership during the pre-pack insolvency process.
