Archbishop of Canterbury expresses solidarity with Pope Leo XIV in calling for peace in Iran
Sarah Mullally urged 85 million Anglicans to speak out for peace and said Christians should press leaders for peaceful conflict resolution.
On Thursday, Archbishop Sarah Mullally expressed solidarity with Pope Leo XIV, urging 85 million Anglicans worldwide to speak out for peace in the Middle East.
President Donald Trump branded the Pope "weak" earlier this week, demanding the religious leader "focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician" over his criticism of war.
Speaking in Cameroon during a four-country tour of Africa, the Pope warned the world is being "ravaged by a handful of tyrants" while condemning leaders who wage war.
As the spiritual head of the Anglican Communion, Mullally stated she stands with her "brother in Christ" in his courageous call for peace, emphasizing the human cost of war is incalculable.
Dame Sarah plans to meet and pray with Pope Leo at the Vatican during her four-day visit to Rome, scheduled to begin on April 25.
