Archaeologists Used a 327-Year-Old Letter to Find a Lost Maya City in the Jungle

Archaeologists used a 1698 letter and Geographic Information Systems to locate Sak-Bahlán, a Maya city lost for over 300 years in Mexico's Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve.

The city, where rebellious Mayans resisted Spanish conquerors, was hidden deep in the jungle.
