Guanajuato's Secretariat of Security and Peace announced that the killing of a local official may be linked to the recent arrest of a local criminal group leader in the area.
A gunman was arrested the same evening and is believed to be linked to the murder of the local elected official.
Ignacio Alejandro Roaro Aguilar, secretary of the Town Hall of Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato, was shot to death on Saturday. The official was assaulted by armed subjects while he was playing on the basketball courts of the Ecological Park.
