Anti-CAA protests in Assam, effigies of PM, HM burnt

Protests against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) erupted across Assam on Tuesday. The All Assam Students' Union (AASU), 30 non-political indigenous organisations besides Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Congress, Raijor Dal and CPI(M) launched protests. The AASU had spearheaded the six-year-long Assam agitation since 1979 leading to the signing of the Assam Accord.
