Knee cartilage usually wears down quietly. Over time, that loss can turn walking stairs into a daily calculation. Now a Stanford Medicine-led team reports that blocking a single age-linked protein helped old mice regrow knee cartilage and helped injured mice avoid a fast slide into arthritis.
