Anthropic has announced that by having Claude design proteins, they have generated 17 types that may potentially inhibit the effects of scorpion venom. Read more...
An Interesting Engineering holder attributes to Claude the identification of 17 possible scorpion toxin binders after a 64-hour experiment. The available information does not detail the methodology or indicate whether the candidates were validated in the laboratory, so it does not allow to conclude that they neutralize toxins or have a medical application.
The artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced that its Claude model has successfully designed proteins that target the deadly neurotoxins in scorpion venom. Working largely independently for approximately 64 hours, the AI generated over 318,000 protein designs. Of these, 211 candidates were tested in a laboratory setting, and 17 successfully passed tests demonstrating their ability to bind to the targeted toxins.
Laboratories have confirmed that experimental proteins are linked to scorpion toxins, but the ability to save from poisoning has yet to be proven.
