Another Popular Squishy Toy Recalled over ‘Risk of Serious Injury or Death’
Consumers are urged to stop using the toys and seek a refund after 276 units were recalled for a potentially deadly ingestion hazard.
On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of 276 Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys due to expandable water beads inside that pose a potentially life-threatening ingestion and choking hazard to children.
Florida-Based Toyworld168 Inc recalled the items because water beads inside can expand beyond permitted limits. The agency stated ingestion can cause severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, intestinal blockage, and risk of death to a child.
These translucent green toys feature glitter and cartoon faces, arriving in tan plastic containers shaped like bamboo steamers labeled "Rainbow MYSTERY" and "SUGAR EDITION." Such squishy buns are popular among children, often featured in viral "unboxing" videos.
Consumers should immediately stop using the toys and contact Toyworld168 for a full refund. The recall requires owners to write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on the item and container before disposing of them.
Sold nationwide through various third-party stores for about $3 from June through July 2026, Amazon has removed some listings. Officials confirmed no injuries or incidents have been reported regarding the products to date.
