Angel City goalkeeper Anderson saves penalty in scoreless draw with Gotham FC
Angelina Anderson made four saves and denied Guro Reiten in the 82nd minute as Angel City earned its sixth shutout.
On Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, Angel City FC goalkeeper Angelina Anderson preserved a 0-0 draw against Gotham FC by saving a late penalty kick from Guro Reiten in front of 15,860 fans at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Angel City entered Sunday with a difficult history against Gotham, having only one win and one draw in previous meetings, while Gotham arrived unbeaten in nine games.
An 87th-minute video review ruled that Angel City defender Sarah Gorden committed a handball, overturning an initial clean block call from the 82nd minute and triggering the penalty attempt.
Anderson secured her sixth shutout with four total saves, while Gotham forward Sam Kerr nearly broke the scoreless deadlock in the 90th minute with a shot that hit the post.
Angel City begins a three-city road trip on Wednesday against North Carolina Courage, followed by matches against Boston Legacy and Racing Louisville before returning home to face Denver Summit.
