Scammers increasingly use AI voice cloning and number spoofing to impersonate friends or family, prompting Google to develop encrypted back-channel verification through the Phone by Google app using RCS technology.
Beyond security tools, the update introduces "Google Photos Wardrobe" for virtual outfit try-ons and "Book Insights" for Google Play Books, while kids under 13 gain access to Personal Safety features like emergency contact display.
Features are rolling out this month, with fake call detection requiring Android 12 and the Phone by Google app, while Google Photos Wardrobe initially debuts in the US, India, and Brazil next week.
