The bill amending the 2026 budget, which was discussed a lot last week and has been made known in terms of its main numbers and amendments, was submitted to parliament. One of the most interesting details of the 125-page document submitted by the Ministry of Finance is how much state funding for the publicly funded healthcare system will be expanded, to which Tisza had previously made important commitments.
The budget deficit could more than double and the public debt could jump, but András Kármán's modifier also includes new social measures, which the Tisza government calls a reality, while Fidesz calls a budget for broken promises.
The Ministry of Finance, led by András Kármán, submitted this year's amended budget to Parliament yesterday, August 31. The new leadership is expecting a deficit of 7.5 percent by the end of the year, instead of the originally approved 3.7 percent, and the expenses will be covered to a significant extent by the EU funds that are being launched, 444.hu reported.
The overall message is that we agree. It's one of the few things that separates this year's budget mangling from last year's.
The government would significantly rewrite the main figures of this year's budget: spending would rise above HUF 49 thousand billion, and the deficit target as a proportion of GDP would increase to 7.5 percent. The amendment was submitted to Parliament on Monday.
