Andalusia Expands Its Neonatal Screening and Detects 38 Congenital Diseases in Newborns

Every June 28th, the International Day of Neonatal Pesquisa is celebrated, a routine study carried out on newborns to identify early certain diseases or medical conditions that could affect their health in the long term. Currently, in Argentina, it is used to detect six pathologies: primary congenital hypothyroidism, phenylketonuria, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, cystic fibrosis, galactosemia, biotinidase deficiency.
On the occasion of the World Day of Neonatal Screening, the Council of Health and Consumer Affairs recalls that throughout 2025 Andalusia will achieve the detection of 38 congenital diseases in newborns, thanks to the expansion of its screening program.
