Small reactor pilot to replace coal in central Helsinki
A former coal-fired power station in central Helsinki will soon house a full-scale pilot facility for a Finnish-designed small modular reactor, under a new agreement between clean energy developer Steady Energy and municipal energy company Helen. The non-nuclear demonstration plant will be built inside the decommissioned Salmisaari B power station. It is scheduled to begin construction in late 2025, with a budget of €15–20 million.
