Amelia Dimoldenberg Calls Sheeran “Red-Headed Puppet” on ‘SNL UK’
She referenced her Chicken Shop Date interview with Sheeran and mocked his decision to drop Macklemore after the rapper’s pro-Palestine comments.
- On Saturday, Chicken Shop Date creator Amelia Dimoldenberg, 32, hosted the third episode of Saturday Night Live U.K.'s second season, using her opening monologue to mock singer Ed Sheeran.
- The monologue targeted Sheeran, who faces ongoing backlash for removing rapper Macklemore from his The Loop tour after the artist chanted "Free Palestine" earlier this month.
- Saturday Night Live U.K. has repeatedly targeted Sheeran in recurring bits, with actor Annabel Marlow previously portraying him "sitting on the fence" during sketches on artificial intelligence and conflicts.
- Sheeran attempted to distance himself from the tour changes, stating it was "the promoter's decision, not mine," while acknowledging he questioned whether he "wanted to be an artist at all."
- Dimoldenberg's hosting debut comes as she prepares to wrap Chicken Shop Date after a 12-year run, encouraging viewers to embrace authenticity throughout their careers.
