AMD Brings Zen 5 and 3D V-Cache to Ryzen Pro 9000 Series Workstation Chips

  • On Thursday, AMD announced its Ryzen PRO 9000 Series processors, bringing 3D V-Cache technology to commercial workstations for the first time with models featuring 6 to 16 cores and 12 to 32 threads.
  • Previously geared toward gamers, AMD is expanding 3D V-Cache technology to support complex, data-intensive workloads such as simulation, rendering, and real-time visualization in professional environments.
  • The headline Ryzen 9 Pro X3D features 16 cores, 128 MB of L3 cache, and 170W TDP, while the Ryzen 7 Pro X3D offers 8 cores and 104 MB of cache, both exceeding the standard 65W power limit.
  • These processors are OEM-only and will not appear in the retail market, with Lenovo planning to launch the first confirmed Lenovo ThinkStation system in the third quarter of 2026.
  • All chips support up to 256GB of ECC DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 connectivity, with AMD including its Pro Technologies suite for enterprise security and long-term platform stability.
