Alexa+ Can Now AI Podcasts on Any Topic, if You Don’t Like Human Podcasts

Alexa+ can turn any topic into a podcast in minutes, and Amazon says the feature is powered by deals with more than 200 local newspapers.

  • On Monday, Amazon launched Alexa Podcasts, a feature allowing Alexa Plus users to generate custom audio episodes on virtually any topic in minutes.
  • Instead of needing source material, the system researches a requested topic, outlines content, and allows users to adjust length or tone before generating audio with AI-generated host voices.
  • To ensure accurate, real-time news and information, Amazon secured licensing deals with more than 200 news organizations, including the Associated Press, Reuters, and The Washington Post.
  • Available to more than 200 million Amazon Prime members in the United States, the feature delivers episodes as notifications on Echo Show devices and saves them in the Alexa app.
  • This rollout positions Alexa Plus as an AI agent producing personalized content, with Amazon exploring future capabilities like generating audio briefings from user-provided documents.
