Amazon Launches Alexa.com for More Wide-Ranging AI Interactions
Amazon's Alexa+ now accessible via Alexa.com browser site and mobile app, serving over 10 million early access users with unique AI features and smart home control.
- On Monday, Amazon launched Alexa.com, a browser-based site letting Alexa+ Early Access customers interact from desktops or laptops by signing in with their Amazon account.
- Facing pressure to modernize, Amazon expanded Alexa+ to the web to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, aiming to make Alexa available "everywhere" beyond hardware.
- Data show Alexa+ engagement metrics such as over 10 million users, 600 million Alexa-powered devices sold, and 76% of interactions unique to Alexa+, Daniel Rausch said.
- Amazon says the service will cost $20 per month standalone or be included with Prime memberships starting at $15, and it is considering ads in Alexa+ conversations to boost revenue.
- Amazon frames Alexa+ as part of an ambient-intelligence push, with Alexa.com preserving context across devices and users reporting slowness despite Amazon saying complaints are over-represented.
