According to the latest data from the GLAD laboratory of the University of Maryland, published on the Global Forest Watch platform of the World Resources Institute (WRI), the largest loss of forest areas in history was recorded last year. For the first time ever, large fires raged simultaneously in both tropical and boreal forests, resulting in the emission of 4.1 billion tons of greenhouse gases.
