Amazon Prime Video Launches New Shop the Show Features

The update expands shoppable discovery to more than 8,000 titles and adds Amazon Lens visual search for items inspired by scenes.

  • On Thursday, Amazon announced new Prime Video features including a Shop tab within the X-Ray experience and "Shop the Scene," powered by Amazon Lens technology, while expanding "Shop the Show" to over 8,000 titles.
  • These enhancements follow last year's launch of "Shop the Show," a second-screen experience designed to let viewers browse products through the Amazon Shopping app without interrupting their viewing experience.
  • The new Shop tab appears within X-Ray, while "Shop the Scene" uses visual search to identify outfits and home decor; Amazon cautioned that matches won't always be exact for high-end or handmade items.
  • "We are always exploring new ways to enhance the streaming experience," said Michelle Rothman, vice president of Prime Video shopping, noting strong customer enthusiasm for discovering products inspired by their favorite shows.
  • Amazon joins competitors integrating shopping into streaming; Disney, YouTube, Roku, and Peacock have launched similar features to create new revenue streams by connecting viewers directly to merchandise.
