Amazon’s Big Fire TV Update Is Now Rolling Out with Plenty of New Tricks
Amazon expands Fire TV app slots from 6 to 20 and integrates Alexa+, enabling natural-language queries and enhanced content interaction, initially for U.S. users.
- Amazon is rolling out the redesigned Fire TV interface in the U.S. as a free update, launching first on Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max , and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series.
- Previewed at CES last month, Amazon says the redesign aims to simplify navigation and highlight content amid an explosion of the streaming services ecosystem.
- Users can pin up to 20 apps with smaller icons and remote rearrangement, the new layout features simplified category tabs and a Live TV section, and Alexa+ enables natural-language queries and on-screen interactions.
- The redesign positions Fire TV as a discovery hub, Amazon says it may persuade buyers of the Amazon Fire Stick, and plans to expand the update this spring to more devices and regions.
- Rebuilt code, Amazon says, makes the interface 20% to 30% faster and the visual refresh adds rounded corners, gradients, typography, and spacing for a cleaner look.
