AM Green Named Winner of Asian Lot in H2Global Auction Funded by German Government
The 10-year, €585 million contract supports India’s push to export green molecules and gives AM Green a long-term buyer for renewable ammonia.
- On Wednesday, India's AM Green Ammonia emerged as the sole winner of the H2Global Asian lot, securing a 10-year purchase agreement worth €585 million to supply renewable ammonia to Germany.
- Hintco, the trading arm of H2Global, conducted the auction to bridge production costs for renewable fuels. AM Green will produce ammonia at its Kakinada project in Andhra Pradesh, converting an existing natural gas complex to alkaline electrolysis.
- AM Green aims to develop 5 million tonnes per year of green-ammonia capacity across India, with Kakinada targeting 1 million tonnes yearly. "Winning through a binding competitive process is a strong validation of the readiness of our platform," said Kolli, Group President and Joint Managing Director of AM Green.
- First deliveries to Germany are expected in 2029. "A long-term contract gives producers like AM Green the certainty to invest and secures reliable supply for European buyers," said Timo Bollerhey, CEO of Hintco and co-founder of H2Global.
- Renewable ammonia enables the transport of clean energy across oceans, helping decarbonize industries that are difficult to electrify. Hintco may also purchase additional volumes using proceeds from resales in the European market.
