  • A poll of 2,000 adults found that 40 percent rarely consider where ingredients come from, 39 percent hardly think about seasonality, and 18 percent say living in a city limits their exposure to farming.
  • Despite this disconnection, 53 percent said the origins of produce are important to them, and 48 percent want more opportunities to learn about the people behind their meals.
  • Dr Emma Keller of Nestlé said people often pick food from supermarkets without thinking about how it got there, overlooking farmers and local communities behind the products.
