ALLMEP Commends Congress on Approving Additional Peacebuilding Funds as Trump Plan Enters Phase II

On Feb. 6, 2026, U.S. Congress approved a bill that added $37.5 million to the NSRP appropriations bill, bringing MEPPA funding to a record $87.5 million.
After changes last year to U.S. foreign assistance, most initial project contracts were terminated and MEPPA funded about 8% of submissions, with only 22 of the first 275 civil society proposals supported.
Over several years, MEPPA funded 28 projects spanning interfaith engagement, healthcare cooperation, high‑tech incubators, and youth sports; collectively, these initiatives trained hundreds of doctors and nurses and sustained the Israeli and Palestinian trauma surgeons program under the U.S. Department of State.
ALLMEP added that the funding creates an opportunity to expand peacebuilding at a moment of acute need, urging rapid deployment to support Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders.
As the Trump Administration advances Phase II in Israel and Gaza, ALLMEP said MEPPA provides a framework for pursuing point 18 of the Trump 20‑Point Peace Plan on interfaith dialogue.
