All Songkhla province declared flood disaster zone
The cabinet on Tuesday declared the entire Songkhla a disaster zone, freeing up relief funds, as the province continued to suffer under the severe flooding that has claimed the lives of at least 13 people in the southern region.
The statement is part of the gravity of the flood situation in nine southern regions, reported Tuesday by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPMD).
Torrential rains have been taking place in southern Thailand since Monday, November 24, 2025, causing floods of historical magnitude. Nearly three million people are hit by the disaster and relief appears to be overburdened. The state of emergency has been decreed in Songkhla province and the army.
The decision, published by the Executive through a communiqué, allows the release of funds and emergency aid to the residents of the province, tasks that will be led by the Chief of the Army, Ukrit Buntanont, with support from several ministries.
